I really like the new system 7.0.1 for the Macintosh, however I have some reservations about some of the features. When doing a copy to disk you will encounter, 'Reading, then Writing and lastly Verifying'. I've found the verifying to be very annoying to say the least and time consuming. This hack will let u copy to disk using only "Reading and then Writing," it will defeat the verification. I'm presently using this hack with no problems and therefore if you decide to use it, you will take all responsibility for doing so. You will need Resedit and a copy of your present system 7.0 'Finder.'
Follow the steps below:
1. This hack is for Finder 7.0
2. Using Resedit, open a copy of the 'Finder'
3. Find and open the resource type 'CODE'
4. Using the Hex editor find and open the 'ID - 171'
5. Do a Find in Hex for this string " 223C2F0C4EAD188A"
6. Change the hex '4EAD188A' TO '4E714E71'
7. Quit Resedit, you will be asked to save changes - answer 'Save'
8. Take the old 'Finder' and move it into the 'Trash Can'
9. Move the modified 'Finder' into the system
10. Restart
11. Try the modified 'Finder'
12. If satisfied, empty 'Trash', else replace new 'Finder' with old 'Finder' from the 'Trash Can'
13. Enjoy
This hack is for 'Finder 7.0' and has not been tested on any early versions.
